The Integrated Project module incorporates your knowledge learned in Year 1 and enables you to design, develop and evaluate a security application as part of a team. We consider applicants studying the IBCP on a case-by-case basis based on the individual components studied. To be considered for this course you will need to study either Mathematics course at Higher Level alongside other IB Higher Level subjects or vocational study equivalent to two A levels.

The Computing Project provides the opportunity to undertake a major computing related problem in an approved topic area relevant to the programme of study. 1) Describe the purpose of, and the interaction between, the hardware and software components of a typical computer system. These types of digital devices are capable of performing most common computing tasks. By installing a new software application our computer becomes capable of performing a completely new function. Computer systems are a combination of both hardware and software working together.

Undergraduate Selection

Typical offers for students from Kazakhstan are based on the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools Grade 12 Certificate. Typically, we would require a score between AAA and BBB from Advanced level subjects. Where courses have specific subject requirements, these will be expected to be studied at Advanced level. Alternatively, we will accept a first year of study at a recognised university of appropriate standing within Japan as acceptable for entry to the first year of some of our degree courses.

Computers Systems

This module will introduce students to the foundational concepts of programming relating to web authoring that will be used as building blocks in future modules. Students will also develop and enhance their problem solving skills and data analytics skills as an integral part of the module. Over many years of teaching computer architecture courses, he began shifting the focus from how computers are designed to how programmers can write more efficient and reliable programs if they understand the system better.

This module will describe the key principles of academic integrity, focusing on university assignments. Plagiarism, collusion and commissioning will be described as activities that undermine academic integrity, and the possible consequences of engaging in such activities will be described. Activities, with feedback, will provide you with opportunities to reflect and develop your understanding of academic integrity principles. Working in groups, you will carry out a project using methods and techniques that parallel industrial practice. You will look at digital logic in the context of combinational and sequential logic with discrete logic gate circuits and consider how their responses can be modelled in practice using Boolean algebra, truth tables, De Morgan’s theorem and Karnaugh maps. You will also become familiar with the professional team working attitudes and skills required to take projects from inception to the fabrication of a final product prototype.

This module is intended to bring together core content from various Y1 modules in a substantial group design project. The group project involves controlling a mobile robot to navigate to a destination safely and smoothly. This robot is provided as a take-home kit for students to work on this project in their own time.

Programming and Software Engineering

In the era of ‘big data’ and the need for statistical literacy, this module provides students with the necessary theory and practical foundations for undertaking real world data analytics. This module promotes knowledge and skills necessary for understanding and deployment of Agile development, traditional development and solution procurement. This model will focus on robust modelling, design, testing and implementation both in Agile and traditional contexts. Students are introduced to key object-oriented (e.g. classes, objects) and software development concepts. This re-enforces the view that students must become object users before they can design their own.
