Book internet access in your library
The software on the computers can cope with most formats. If the document wasn’t created using a Microsoft Office program, you may need to save it as Rich Text Format before our computers can open it. You can book a computer up to a week in advance, in the library, over the phone or by following the ‘Book a public computer’ link above. If you have a library membership card, you can book by calling or visiting your local library. Buckinghamshire Libraries provide loanable tablets known as Hublets, at various libraries in Buckinghamshire for customers to use while in the library. These loanable tablets should remain inside the library buildings and are subject to the terms outlined in this policy. Our wifi service is not encrypted and as such information sent over the network may be liable to interception by others. Children and young people aged 8 to 15 years must be library members and have parental permission to use the library computers.
The computers in the Children’s Library are for use by children and young people. Library computers automatically shut down 15 minutes before the library closes. You will be warned when your session is coming to an end. If you finish early, please log out to save your unused time.
Find IT training and events in libraries
During a week, you may book up to nine hours in total. You can book multiple sessions per day, but must take a break between any two sessions of 30 minutes at the Library of Birmingham or 20 minutes at community libraries. Bookings are held for 10 minutes from the session start time. At the library, go straight to the booked computer and enter your library card number and PIN.
